Social Studies

Students did a critical thinking challenge on examining clues to determine which event it is related to. They accessed their Google slides and looked at currency, photos, maps, a video, and facts to help them rationalize their responses. Please ask your child to show you the clues and have them explain this reason.

Wonder:
"In my opinion the book Wonder teaches us how to respect people's differences, and to be kind to everyone you meet. I strongly believe we shouldn't judge people by their appearance. I also would recommend reading this book to everyone to learn about how bad bullying can effect someone's life. Those are my opinions about the book and why it's a wonderis!" ~ M.

"In my opinion I think that Wonder is a book worth recommending. Did you know that Wonder is the best book in the world? One reason I think this is that Wonder is very unique. It is a one and only of it's kind, it tells a story of a boy with face deformation who faces lots of troubles. Most importantly Wonder has won lots of awards. A few of the awards are E.B White read aloud award winner, An Ira-CBC Teachers Choice and more! I hope you now think that Wonder is a book worth recommending." ~ J

Message from Me to We Club
We Walk for Water

Every day, girls must walk hours to collect clean water. We’re the generation who can change this.

$25 gives someone clean water for life.

On Friday April 27th, students will walk around the school for 20 minutes to increase awareness of the global water crisis.

In order to avoid wasting water and taking away from the purpose of the walk, we will fill jugs with rocks and have students take turns carrying the heavy jugs.

We are asking for students to help by bringing in empty milk or juice jugs (1L or more) by next week for us to fill with rocks in preparation for the walk.

We are also encouraging every student participating to bring a loonie to school some time before or on April 27th so that each class can work towards raising $25 to help give a person clean water for life.

For more information on the Water Walk, please visit: https://www.we.org/we-schools/program/campaigns/we-walk-for-water/

Thanks,
Me to We Club
